In 2013, Guardian Bikes founders Brian Riley and Kyle Jansen created the patented SureStop braking system, after the founder's grandfather was injured in a bicycle accident. In 2017, Brian and Kyle appeared on Shark Tank and completed an investment deal with Dallas Maverick's owner, Mark Cuban. As of 2023, All Guardian Bikes are assembled in the USA, in Seymour, Indiana.
